Why are you in the plant care business?
We believe that everyone should be able to work and live in an attractive and healthy indoor environment. We believe in the importance of Biophilia, the human need for connection with nature, and the positive impact it can have on mental health.
Do you offer commercial plant care?
Yes, we work predominantly with businesses that want to improve their space for their employees and clients. Most of our clients are on a bi-weekly care package where we come in and perform all care on tropical plants and/or living walls. Urban Green has some clients that have had plants for over 30 years, and we continue to care for them every other week. Our commercial clients range from fortune 500 companies to home businesses.
Do you do residential work?
Yes, we also work with homeowners who would like to bring nature into their home. Typically, our residential work is installation of living walls, living art or moss art.
Do you work with fake plants?
No, we believe that fake plants, while nice for a short period of time, do not have the same lasting effect as real living plants. The closest thing we do to fake plants is our preserved moss art and preserved moss walls, which are real organic material that has been dried out and rehydrated with glycerin and dyed with food colouring to give the lush look and feel of live moss.
What areas do you service?
We service everywhere from Toronto to London Ontario, including, but not limited to Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Niagara, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Brantford, Woodstock and London.
How often do you water plants?
Over 30 years ago, the founder Peter Tigchelaar found that by using sub-irrigation plants could be serviced bi-weekly instead of the typical weekly which was the norm back then. By doing this he was able to reduce maintenance costs for clients while maintaining attractive plants.
What do your installation and plant care services typically cost?
Cost varies based on many factors. For our commercial clients, we have locations that are as low as $60/month to ones that are over $1000/month.
How much do living walls cost?
Living wall prices range dramatically, with size being the biggest factor. We have installed walls ranging from $1000 – $16,000 and projects from $500-$50,000. Our lowest-priced living wall system typically is $80/Square foot and our higher-end systems can be $120-$200/Square foot.
